Fred, this is not Ari, but I can take a stab at your question. Suspect the battery. 3 1/2 years is plenty of service. As I have said before on this site, these cars need quality electricity and lots of it to run properly. Get a new battery, the best and highest capacity you can afford that will fit, and you will be happy. A simple way to check to see if your alternater is working is to measure the voltage at the battery with the motor off. Start the engine. If the voltage rises, you alternator is working. Since you report a voltage while driving of 13.9 - 13.9, I think your alternator is just fine. Get a new battery. Good luck.
