I just replaced the antenna mast on my '94 CSE and I thought I'd share a few things I learned.
I had to pull the motor because the nylon cable broke off inside it. I found that the trunk carpet will release from the area surrounding the motor just by firmly pulling. I also removed the 4 screws holding on the protective skid plate at the hatch opening and removed that bit of carpeting, which made it much easier to get to the motor mounting bracket.
The motor mounting bracket was held in place with 3 10mm bolts, one at the top and two at the bottom. It also had a flange which fit into a corresponding lip on the lower mounting point on the car. The motor was held to the bracket by 2 T25 (iirc) screws - the screwdriver in the tool kit had the correct bit. You could probably get the screws out and the motor off the bracket without removing the bracket, but it was really easy to take the 3 bolts out and remove the entire bracket. You have to lift the bracket and motor assembly up a bit to clear the lower mounting point on the car and rotate it all to get it up to get access. Unplug the antenna and the two-wire connector to the motor and carefully remove the motor's plug from the mounting bracket. Snake the drain hose up through the holes in the bracket while pulling the motor up off the bracket.
Remove the 8mm nut from the motor, lift the cover and set aside. Lift the white inside cover off (be careful not to lose the washer on top), turn it over and extract the remainder of the broken nylon drive cord. Check for any lodged in the gears too, but I doubt you'll find any there. I shot some lithium grease into the gears to try to replace some of the black grease that had clearly occupied that space at some point.
Reassmbly is the reverse.
Having had the motor out, I knew which way I had to point the teeth on the new mast to get them to engage - to the front of the car. I believe that this is the same for all of the "new" body style 9ks. The motor grabbed the cable on the first try and I had the new mast installed in less than 2 minutes, once the motor was back in place.
