So.. I took delivery of a '97 Aero a couple of months ago. Part of the deal was to have them provide a new set of tires, Mich Pilot Sports, which is what happened. But, here is the rub.. the correct size for the 16" Aero is a 205/55-16 and the tires they put on were 205/50-16's. I just fuond this out when I mounted the tires today for the first time. What would you do, demand the right tire size or live with the slightly smaller diameter tire? Note that the "dealer" in question is some 400 miles away, so it isn't like I can drive right over and have the swap done.
Smaller diameter = higher mileage.
Smaller diameter = false speedo reading.
Smaller diameter = tire wears out faster.
other than these points, what other down side might there be and/or what would be the plus side if any.
I have a hard time believing that this particular dealer could put the wrong size tire on the car, they do too much business and tout their own abilities quite hard. I looked up the prices for the tires at Tirerack and there is a $2 diff per tire cost, so they didn't really save any $$.. I am not particularly pissed, just disappointed and miffed.
How big of a deal do *you* think it is or should be?
Comments? Ideas? Suggestions?
