Aha... weird... I thought the '90 9000S had a 2.3l... Learn something new!
Anyway, I'd feel more safe about doing it if they're both 2.0ls. The turbo runs a 9:1 CR and the non-turbo a 10.1:1 CR. Later Turbos run a 9.25:1 CR for what that's worth. Go onto the Performance BBS and look for posts from 85SLED. He bolted on a turbo to his non-turbo 900S and had no problems until he turned up the boost. FWIW, people run turbos on Hondas with factory bottom ends - you just have to remember to keep boost low and conservative (<8psi, to be sure) and you should have a perfectly drivable, long-lasting car.
Remember that if you go this route you'll need to move more than the turbo over. You'll need to install the turbo's injectors (keep the non-turbo's FPR), exhaust, oil cooler, and intercooler. You may want to install APC, or you may want to install EZK. Search on the Performance BBS for "EZK" and you'll find some discussions on the merits of each. You can pretty much keep everything else.
The results of such a swap could be truly great. 85SLED indicated he loved the high-compression turbo and echoed many of the sentiments I had of my friend's '84 "900S Turbo" - an '84 4-door with a 16v NA engine plus a turbo. With the improved efficieny of the 9000's transmission and the improved intercooler, you will probably have a very quick car when it's done. JUST REMEMBER TO KEEP THE BOOST LOW or you WILL melt something. :)
Have fun...
