Search my name for impressions, problems etc...
I have 16 X 7.5" rims, SAS bars, Spax springs, Bilstein sports. For the cheapest solution and a nice improvement I'd buy the Bilstein touring (I believe that is the series) or the Boge/Sachs replacements for a normal turbo to rid yourself of the Nivomat. The rear springs on the Nivomat are slightly shorter and lighter as the Nivomat shock does some of the work. Find a set of springs in some guys garage with an 91 92 who swapped them for some performance springs. But the biggest improvements can be in replacement parts in the front end. I found most of my frontend to still be in good shape despite 150K and SLC driving. The problem was mainly the rear arm bushing and the front aluminum mounts to the body for the arm had cracked and presented play. I'm a bit of a DIY'r and I bought the stock bushings off E-bay for something like $30 a pair and then filled the void in the rubber with urethane rather than spending $100 each for the bushings. 3M window weld works well and represents about an 85 durometer urethane which might be just a touch stiffer than the Abbott bushings given the One Abbot tranny mount I have is a good representative of the bushing in question.
So enough of the rambling. Make sure the front end is in good shape first. I'm sure the sway bar bushing front and rear are shot too which was justification enough for me to go the the SAS which is and incremental improvement but not huge or awe inspiring. Ensure your shocks are in fine condition and if still not satisfied look to the springs.
