It wouldn't wash away, but might get jostled loose in that environment.
I would think a material made for brakes would be better. Any recommendation as to brand?

I've installed only Repco/PBR Deluxe pads on my cars for the past 25 years, and have never had any squealing *except* with original stock pads. I've never actually installed any stock pads, except when swapping some PBR's on my '91 to my '95. The '95 with stock pads squealed badly when I first bought it, so I swapped with the '91 before I sold it. Oddly, the '91 did not squeal after the swap to stock pads, so all was well.
