I have an oem Saab armrest in my '98, and the console cover can only be lifted just so far up (actually, only to about a 45 degree angle). The armrest gets in the way of fully opening the console cover.
Because of this, only the front-most cup slot can be used, but the console cover then rests on top of the cup. The rear-most cup slot cannot be used. Hence why I had to go the route of the Taurus cupholder.
Husco.com has armrests that are very nice, and have colors that integrate with any interior. The armpad slides back and forth depending upon where you like it, and it has a built-in slide-out cupholder that holds two cups. It attaches to the center console lid with tape or screws. With this design, the console lid can be fully opened. Plus, it's 1/2 the price of an oem Saab one.
