Joe,
Never worked with a BSR ECU, but maybe this will help. In some cases, what appears to be "turbo lag" is actually "fuel lag". If the engine's leaning out when you step on the gas, there will be a drop in power, and the turbo will take a lot longer to spool up.
Here's a way to check if you have the equipment: hook up a digital multimeter to read the voltage on the output lead of the O2 sensor (the front one if you have two). Hook it up in such a way that it can be read while driving.
Now get a friend, and have him look at the multimeter while you drive the car. At mid-throttle and below, the voltage should oscillate back and forth between "low" (0 to about .3 volts) and "high" (0.7 to ~1 volt). But as soon as you plant your right foot on the pedal, the meter should read "high" (indicating a rich mixture) and stay there. If the voltage goes low at any time while at full throttle, there's a fueling problem, or something with the ECU software.
