thin oil and your climate is not too cold, try switching to a heavier oil (15w40) (synthetic or semi), which may give more support to the turbo bearing and reduces this noise which sounds like blade-contact-with-housing.
On my '92 2.3 engine/autotrany I use oil additive (MSO2, moly based) for many years now.
