OK fellas...is the brake warning lamp on in the pictogram? Have you done the obvious and checked for voltage at the lamp base socket with a friend pushing the brake pedal? If this checks out, the most common issue with the brake lights not working is the plastic lamp holder has "melted" over years of use. This has become very pervasive on newer cars where light-weight materials are being used. The lead will appear to be bent, even loose, and it can't be bent back straight. Use some epoxy and re-seat the lead --it's usually the one on the side which is jicked up. Let the epoxy harden and replace the lamp with a good, european lamp -- an Osram/Phillips or Sylvania. Do NOT use the cheap-o made in Korea/Taiwan stuff. If this doesn't hold, you may be off to the local salvage yard for a replacement. Check it to make certain you're not buying the same problem.
