I have an upgraded ECU that allows >20 psi boost when octane and temps allow, and since the change I've found that spark plug gap must be at the minimum spec or I get misfiring at high loads and boost levels. The minimum for my car is 0.8mm (~.032"), and after recently experiencing misfiring I found one plug at .9mm. Changing it back corrected the problem. The spec for my car is 1.0 -.2 +.1mm, at least as shown on the label in the engine compartment. Other sources, like the service manual, say 1.0mm ± .1mm, which means I'm out of spec.
Frankly, I think this is an indication of a weak DI cassette in my case, as others with high-boost ECU's don't have this problem. Otherwise and as long as the gap is at .8mm the car runs fine.
