You shouldn't have a problem I did my '94 heater matrix a while ago. You don't need to remove the bonnet, wiper motor assembly etc. on the later cars. Quasi's site has a good write up and good pictures!!!
Before you start set the ACC to LO - this moves the flap so that you can easily unhook the control cable. Use long nose pliers to remove the clip that holds the cable in place.
Remove the trim that covers the aquarium. Remove the plate in the false bulkhead (2 screws and just pulls up - may be stiff just give it a good yank).
Unfortunately there is no way on this earth that you are going to get the fan casing out without removing the hoses to the heater matrix - they just get in the way. So drain the coolant and then remove those hoses. Your car is quite young so they should be fine, but check them and replace as required.
Now you are ready wrestle with the fan housing. There are two clips at the back of the fan housing that hold it in place - release these with a large screwdriver. The fan housing just pushes over the end of the evaporator so pull it off. Now you have to twist and rotate it in magical ways until it comes out, remember what you did because it goes back the same way! (This is also where you find out that the heater matrix hoses get in the way if you haven't already removed them).
Don't loose the clips that hold the two parts of the fan housing together and take care when putting the fan housing back in because on of the clips catches on the body work and can come off if you're unlucky.
Since you're there, check the heater matrix, again as your car is not too old it is probably OK, but if you have to replace it proceed:
Unclip the aluminium AC pipes from the clip that is near the cruise control vacuum pump thingy, you might have to move the vacuum pump out of the way - its on rubber mounts DO NOT just pull it off the rubber mounts (well you can, its quite easy to do, but its a real bear to put back on again) better to remove the bracket (2 torx screws). Then you should have enough room to move the evaporator out of the way. Put something thin but tough between the evaporator and the bodywork to prevent scratching the paint. Move the evaporator left and up - either use something to tie it out of the way or have an assistant hold it whilst you wrestle with the heater matrix. The heater matrix just slides in and out, but the evaporator gets in the way a bit. Remember to put the foam strip around the new heater matrix to stop it rattling around.
