Hello all,

I have been busy working on a fix for my donut problem....i mean
driving light problem. Turns out the little contact ring on one of my
driving lights has oxidised.....dawm. So dealer went about sanding it
off and the lamp worked AOK for about 1 month then shut off. So turns
out a new lamp is needed as they dont sell only this small piece of
metal that is really the only thing needed. A new lamp is 300$CDN.....
and roughly the same through eeuroparts.com So I decided to try a DIY
I found here on the saabnet 9000bb.

Basically, remove the old lamp. Take the insides out and insert a new
aftermarket sealed driving/fog lamp inside the old housing. The trick
is to find a lamp that will actually fit inside! Small
dimensions....2"x2.5" by 3"deep at most. Managed to locate this after
some searching.....PIAA makes a pair....250-350$ (at least its for
two lamps)and after getting no help from Lordco....there "pricing"
girl was not in and no one knew how much it was.....then they wouldnt
let me return...okok so then I headed to this little tuner shop and
then another and another.....and finally found the perfect
set.....small enough to fit inside and same bulb etc as the factory
lamp! Now for the install.

I wish I could find that little metal ring to repair the factory
lamp. I am about to start the mod on the factory housing....I figured
I might as well give this a try....I mean if I mess it up back to the
dealer i will go and new lamp here i come! hahaha

btw. the aftermarket lamps were modestly priced at 100$CDN! and I can
return them should they not fit! Really impressed!:)

Any suggestions/comments.....or ideas where to get that little ring!? :)

Thanks,
James
