I can commiserate with this......they can be next to impossible to
remove without destroying the sway bar bushings. It depends on
how badly they are corroded. I've even removed the sway bar and
placed it on a secure, solid vice and tried using an impact tool to
get the sawed-off bolt out from the center bushing - no luck! The
rubber bushing prevents the impact from doing its' job. I ended
up replacing the rubber/steel bushing. I made sure that the new
bolts and the bushings on the shocks and sway bars had a liberal
coating of copper anti-seize, before I put it all back together. This
was on a rear suspension that had less than 17k miles. It had
been sitting in a salvage yard, exposed, for about 9 months. I
used a saw-z-all to cut the bolt on both sides of the shock mount.
Don't know, off-hand, what the bolt sizes were, but I seem to
remember the head and nut sizes were 18 mm. People have
given accounts of how difficult it can be to insert poly bushes into
the front control arms, but wait 'til you try putting stock rubber bushes
into the rear sway bar - make sure there are no impressionable
children or adults around when you do this......hope this goes
easier for you than it did for me!
