as others have said smooth shifting is not a selling point on Saabs - you will get ued to it though - eventually you may enjoy proper pacing of shifts - Apparently British cars shift with similar action (I think I remember CM Smith saying this) The best phrase for the action might be "gentlemanly shifting required"
That said there are a number of things you can do to improve the action. Some suggest using a better transmission lubricant, others report disaterous results after said action. It may be that the shift coupling (bit -o rubber with screws protruding - under the intake manifold by the starter motor) has degraded. It may also be that there are air bubbles in the clutch line - you probably should bleed the clutch line anyway as your Saab (unlike Japanese cars and like English Cars) requires and loves regular attention. It may also be that worn motor mounts are causing shifting problems.
With greatest probability though the car is fine and its just something you'll have to get used to. Buy a haynes Manual - it will help.
