Regardless of year, I would go for the TD04 Turbo 225 HP model. The difference is much more than the extra 20HP. The TD04 motor is smooth and torquey. From the driver's seat you'll think it's a small V8.
Now, between the years;
Lots of niggling little changes, but a few big ones.
The 95s had the Traction Control Systems [TCS] on US spec Aeros. TCS has lots of problems, not the least of which is premature failure of 5th gear and a throttle body that is mind numbingly expensive.
TCS was dropped in 96. The models 96-98 have OBD-II [On Board Diagnostics] in all US spec models. While I'm not fond of bureaucrats legislating on my cars, OBD is a pretty useful feature. Basically you can buy an inexpensive piece of software that runs on Palms or laptops that lets you read fault codes. As Saabs 'Check Engine' from time to time it's been very useful to know why.
I might not pass by a screaming deal on a 95, but for my money I'd look for a 5 speed Aero 96 - 98. Then I'd go to work on it.....
