Avoid mixing Red Stuff or Orange Stuff with Greeen Stuff, clear stuff or Blue Stuff. Generally Red and Orange can be mixed, unless you have a diesel truck with wet liners (which you don't). Blue and Green can be mixed so long as you're intending to get the heater core fixed soon and you're just trying to keep the motor running until then. After that, pick a color that's not red or orange and stick with it. Red and orange are completely incompatible with green and blue.
**for those inclined, orange = carboxyl organic acid inhibitor, aka "DexCool". Red = "Extended Life Coolant (ELC)", which combines carboxyl organic acid inhibitor with Nitirite to suppress cavitation on the wet cylinder liners that big diesel engines have. Blue is Saab Coolant, which uses Sebacic Acid and some Silicate - this is a BASF "G" spec coolant. Mercedes "Clear Stuff" is also a BASF "G" spec coolant. "Green Stuff" is the traditional USA product, usually a silicone silicate inhibitor.
I have had individual Saabs run the better part of a generation on a diet of annual "green stuff and distilled water" changes, without any cooling system problems.
