My '97 CS-Aero conversion had shown the same symptoms for the last few days. Some days it seemed ok, some days not, but always the feeling that something was a little off.
Yesterday I pulled off the rubber boot on the inlet to the throttle body. I was going to check if the throttle was opening all the way, as I've been burned by this several times in the past.
Here's what I found;
On the bottom of the throttle body is a brass fitting, really just a tube, that mounts the hose that goes to the AIC valve. The brass tube had blown out of the throttle body and was sitting just below the bottom of the throttle body.
The car still idled fine, made enough boost such that I could hear the bypass valve pop when I chopped the throttle and surprisingly enough made no audible noise. Just enough of a leak though to soften the power delivery.
The local dealer has seen this happen before. Not common, but it does happen. I epoxied the tube back in, and the motor is it's old ferocious self once again.
