About 2 years ago it was apparent the 2nd gear synchro on my '88 9KT was starting to go. I was able to deal with it by "babying" the 1 - 2 shift, but it was getting harder and harder to avoid a grindless shift to 2nd.

My local shop recommended I try replacing the oil in the trans with BG SyncroShift as they had seen some good results on some other customer's cars. I gave it a try and after a year and half I must say I'm happy with the results.

I still can't rush the 1 - 2 shift but as long as I'm reasonably careful and shift at a sane RPM I have no problems. The improvement has been very noticable and has certainly delayed the need for a trans rebuild or replacement for quite a while.

Can't say if this product would work for everyone with an ageing tranny, but it's probably worth a shot before tearing into your transmission.
