Change the oil, radiator fluid, plugs, plug wires, etc? If you have that under your belt and are willing to do more, such as brakes, exhaust, belts, etc, I'd buy it. Much of the expense in maintaining these cars is labor. Parts can be had at a discount on this board from sponsors, so that is another way to save a bundle. Stick with this board as there are lots of good advisors here, and a ton of info under the search option. As an example, your antenna mast replacement from an indy or dealer costs $50-100 with labor. From a saabnet sponsor, $15 and an hour or two of your time.
The car could easily go 300k if you continue to maintain and there is not a lot of salt in your part of the country. Do have a good Saab mechanic look it over. He may save you a bundle by spotting expensive problems.
Auto eh? 2 issues. The NA is a bit anemic power wise, and more so with auto. If you've driven it and are satisfied, fine. The second is reliability of the auto tranny. From reading this board it seems that 100k is about average lifespan for these. However there are posters who are aproaching 200k that say it is all in the maint. I think a rebuild is $3-4k.
