I would not tow w a 9000 auto.
In my youth I towed w my old '74 99 manual tranny and you could tell the difference. It really loaded the engine down and I burned a bunch of oil. Given the inherent weakness of the auto tranny, I would not consider it.
Rent a truck, put the Saab on a tow dolly and do it. I've done this several times with no ill effect. The Saab is a good candidate for towing.
It may cost a litle more up front, but what is avoiding a tranny repair in Rock Springs, WY worth to you?
YMMV
