My uppers at least the one attached to the engine was beginning to show signs of wear and tear. Had my dealer take a peak....the tech said all was good...uppers and lowers. I was still concerned about the uppers worsening. To be more specific...two little tears about 5mm in length from the little spaces in the OE mount were visible. I removed the dogbone (which luckily had no tearing yet) and inserted 2 pieces of silicone tubing into both mounts. I bought various sizes, after finding the correct fit and re-install I found a little more vibration...minimal....but alot better response overal.
I have since gone and ordered a poly upper to later swapout the upper attached to the engine. This way I can carefully cut out and swap in the poly and simply press out the dogbone one (is easy to remove) and press in a new OE rubber one. I ordered the poly from europarts, as mentioned it is supposed to be less rigid than other polys.
Use the setup that suits your needs!
Good luck with the DIY.
James
