about 6 mths ago, my 92 9kt started to exhibit a stuttering during acceleration. The Tachometer would drop rapidly and then bounce back as the cars acceleration recovered. On a 150m round trip, it finally got to the point where it was undrivable, so I took the DI from my 91 9ks and swapped it out and suddenly the problem went away (here is where it gets interesting), I then put the bad DI back into the 91 9ks and it worked fine, needless to say I was perplexed but happy because after all, they both worked. Flash fwd to a couple weeks ago and my 92 9kt started to exhibit pretty much the same problem. Of course, I thought it must be the DI (again) but was a bit worried that something was frying it, checked the plugs (fine), went on saab chat where I was told it might be the ECU, so I swapped one from a used 92 9kt, didn't do anything, put in a NEW DI and again, the problem was still quite prevelant, at this point I don't know what the hell is wrong with it. Any suggestions? from reading here my guesses are fuel pump or crankshaft position sensor? or could it be the apc/di control unit? of course, these are just guesses and I'm still confused as to why swapping a DI would alleviate these things, as it did 6 mths ago. Any help or pointers would be great including how to test any of these things. With my 91 9ks needing to have the tranny pulled (second time in 3 mths) and the 92 undrivable, I'm afraid my devotion to Saab is quickly eroding - have even started looking at used hondas! please save me from a life of the reliable but mundane.
