There is a small-diameter vacuum line that starts from a spigot on the back of the inlet manifold and runs round the engine to a Y-piece near the ABS accumulator, below the throttle body. The hose that disappears through the false bulkhead goes to your gauge. The other branch runs to the "hooter" valve on the inlet tract. As matt says, it's most likely that the hose is detached or leaking within the engine compartment.
