The correct line-up of the hoses on the BPC solenoid is:
C (top)
W (middle)
R (bottom)
I actually have one here on my desk at work. I just bought a spare and put it into my briefcase intending to put it into the car.
The best way to test if you have boost is to remove the "W" hose from the BPC, then go for a drive. But as Ari said, drive VERY CAREFULLY. The boost kicks in immediately and will not stop until the turbo disintegrates!
Note: this will not test if the BPC is actually working. This only tests if you have full-boost which would be turbo and/or wastegate related.
