Was some talk way back about replacing the transistor in the controller with some sucess IF you can find a person at Radio Shack that can actually use the substitution guide. One caution...A short in the fan motor can ruin the transistor. Do you have access to a good meter? you can hook the fan to the battery and test its current draw. Having heard a "noise", good chance the fan motor is going out and "ate" the control.
