Here's the skinny....
Making the 4" into 5.25 is possible but not advisable as the you would need to redo the grills in order to allow the 5.25 to play through properly.
If you want to make a serious improvement, I would talk to the guys at CDT audio (http://www.cdtaudio.com)
Get a CL642 system with a 5.25 instead of the 6.5...
There are several ways to set this up...
The simplest would be to mount the 5.25 right behind the map pocket on the doors. You will want to mount a peice of MDF inbetween the doorcovering and the metal and then mount the speaker through the door covering, and the wood straight to the metal. This will give you the most secure set-up and allow you to play some decent midbass through the 5's.
From here you can mount the 4"s in the stock location, but not the tweeters. You want to mount the tweets on either the dash top or the a-pillar cover, with the left tweeter pointing to to passenger and the right one to the driver (criss-cross).
Another option would be to mount tbe four's in front of the map pocket on the doors and the tweeters in either the kick panels or on the door about the 4. Mounting in the sail panel is not advisable as the imaging will be poor.
If you want more detail, you can email me.
