Honda MTF has worked well for me for many thousands of kms. I reported a while back some whine at high temps under load. That turned out to be another issue (fixed).
Honda in there now, and it really shifts smooth, unusual for a old Saab box...almost like it's not a old Saab box;-)
great stuff, and cheap, only $6CAD per litre at the local dealer.
FWIW I used Amsoil 75W90 for 250K km in my old trans. The trans was still fine gear and bearing wise, but my second gear syncro packed it in. One of those old recall TSBs that never was dealth with in 1989, thanks to the prev owner.
