Coming back from another two week out-of-town trip, the battery of my 94 9k cs died again as I expected. Early Monday morning I unlocked the passenger side front. The battery is so weak it only unlocked that door. Then I unlocked the driver side. But as I turned the key to crank (of course the battery is so weak the car did not crank.) the car alarm started to blast. Apparently it is weak enough not to start the car but still have enough juice to sound the alarm and wake up my neighbors.
In close to six years since I had the car this is the first time the alarm sounded and I honest don't know how it works nor do I care to find out. But I had to go inside the house to retrieve the user manual to find out how to disarm it because the alarm was blasting. Finally I figured out to lock the driver side door (thus the central lock) and unlock it again to disable the alarm.
Maybe I am spoiled, careless or both but I just can't stand car alarms living in the New Jersey suburb. The first day I got my 89' 900S years ago, I cut the wires to the alarm horn so it won't bother me anymore. I never lock my car in my driveway nor in the office parking lot.
I just hope the alarm horn is not the same as the regular horn so I can find it and cut the wires as I did years ago to the 900. But apparently it is not that simple. When it is armed, ignition is disabled too. Can anyone tell me how to disable the alarm?
