Funny (or not) the same thing happened to my wife's '91 several years ago. Only difference was that it was Christmas Day and it was like -10 or so, so it didn't actually overheat completely despite her driving a few miles sans water pump/power steering to avoid being stranded in the cold.
The idler spun on it's mounting point on the PS pump bracket after the bearing froze and destroyed it, but I managed to find an industrial machine shop owner who put a guy on it and had it fixed for me in under 8 hours. Merry Christmas!! I spent way too much time on a cold garage floor with a tiny space heater & hair dryer. I think it was about 15-20 in the garage at the time.
Guess I didn't win the 'guess the cause' contest, but I've been there too!
I'd at least change the oil & make sure you fill up to the "A" on the dipstick. I wouldn't think the timing chain would care so much about heating as a big casting like the head, but I've been wrong before.
Oh about the Sport Chassis Kit- I talked to Nick last week looking for my strut tower brace- apparently Speedparts takes a few weeks off in July & won't be back until next week, so all those things are waiting.
It just cracks up all the Hondaphiles I know how we have to wait for stuff to come from Sweden. I tell them it's all hand built by trolls working in caves.
