Lower mounts replaced...still have jerking.

I finally replaced both lower mounts during the weekend, my most mechanical feat yet. Both were replaced with rubber mounts from eeuroparts and the whole thing took about 4 hours. Yes, I was going reaaalllly slow.
Anyway, my upper mounts on the dogbone collar are slightly cracked and I did temporarily jam some pieces of rubber pipe within. It looks like the original lower mounts were in decent condition - no cracks, nor leaks. Regardless, the jerking is a little less pronounced but definitely still unmistakable. I find myself having to put the clutch in a little during jerking to smooth it out. I can't consistently replicate the jerking, but it seems much more pronounced on harder acceleration or even touching the gas at low speeds when the car's in a higher gear.
I really have only the upper mounts and tranny mount left to replace. However, I'm sceptical whether the jerking will be completely erradicated once done. The engine is very smooth with no hesitation along the RPM scale, even when as I'm being hurled back and forth. So I'm going to rule out the AIC valve.
My question is whether shot upper mounts could be responsible for this much jerking?
Anyone have ideas?
Thx
Quattro
