I think you're thinking of the older deck. Up to about 91, I think. I had that one in several cars, and it was super-easy to make a line in for it. If you didn't have the EQ or cd, it was just a totally trivial thing. If you did have the CD, you could keep the cd and also add a line in, but it was a bit of work. Just labor, though, nothing too hard to figure out. Well, labor and a willingness to cut into some delicate wires.
The newer systems are a little more sophisticated in terms of knowign what they have hooked up to them, though. That's the problem. With the newer system you will have to trick it into thinking it has a working cd changer hooked up. If it just looks for a certain resistance between pins or something, that's no big deal. You just have to find out what the spec is. If it needs a communication signal between units you may be out of luck.
In any case, I don't know, but I'm sure Wasyl will be able to tell you one way or the other whether it can be done.
