Help Please - Windshield Washer

Thanks to Ari and his excellent instructions from awhile back, I had the confidence to dig into the washer switch on my '88 9ks. I tested the switch and all seems OK. I have replaced the washer motor/pump unit with a new one which works fine when I put the two leads directly on the battery. However it still does not work when I pull the lever for wash. What's wrong?
As Ari had instructed, I checked the switch with an Ohmmeter and the switch seems fine in all respects. With the wire socket pluged onto the switch, I noticed when I run a test lead from the + wire on the washer motor directly to the contact #15 (brown wire) and the ignition is on, the pump and wipers work and go through their cycle. I also put the Ohmmeter between the same test lead, that goes directly to the pump, and the "P" contact on the switch and got full continuity while the switch was released.
I can't figure out what is wrong. Ari, could you or someone else please help. Thanks, Brett
