Background: I bought my 97 9000 Aero from the US, and imported it into Canada. Soon after, I purchased a speedo head from a wrecker, so that it would be in km. I waited until the mileage on the car matched the mileage on the "new" speedo head, which turned out to be a few months.

I installed the speedo head cluster tonight, which included all three gauges, and the EDU. Right away I had problems, and started to look for reasons why. Well, it turns out this cluster was from a '93, and even though it looks the same, it's not. The EDU doesn't seem to be compatible at all (doesn't power up), the fuel guage/temperature gauge has a different pin-out on the connector, and the speedo itself acts crazy. I carefully re-wired the fuel gauge to what should have matched, but now instead of the the fuel gauge reading the temperature and vice versa, neither of them read anything. And after I did that, the SRS light now comes on. Coincidence? I have no idea.

Now to the real questions. The markings on the '93 speedo head say W=0.637, WH=0.620. Can anyone tell me what these numbers mean? I looked up the metric speedo head for '97, and it should have the markings W=1.026, WH=0.620. If these are somehow related to the speed conversion, then I would expect that my speed would be off by a certain perctange. Instead, what happens is that if the car is not moving, the speedo reads 0. If the car is moving any speed, the speedo reads 78km/h. If I'm going 10, the speedometer reads 78. If I'm going 120, the speedo reads 78. But it's not like it's stuck, because when I stop again it goes back to zero.

Maybe I'm just screwed, if the speedo head is just not compatible at all. I can't take it back anymore, because it's been a few months.
