Last year I took a road trip from California to Oklahoma and then back. Freeway driving all the way at about 75 mph with A/C. My average was about 32-35 mph, based on the mileage calculator, which is always a bit high. I would fill up in the morning and I could cross any state on a tank of gas; about 450 miles. Obviously I couldn't get across Texas or Penn., but I could do it with the western states. This was true in my 87 also. With a turbo and a set speed using cruise, these cars get great mileage. I got the same results going to Tuscon or Portland from SF - 900 miles, 2 tanks of gas with some to spare at the destination.
