i agree that solid state components should be more reliable than mechanical ones, however, i've noticed that i've consistently had problems with two hella modules in my wife's soon to be sold 93 9000; one is the cruise control and the other is the memory module for 8 way driver's seat. maybe hella just had some bad years.
