i'm no structural engineer, but, my inclination would be to get the floor rewelded to the frame rail if you intend to keep the car. you might want to examine the perimeter of your floor pan while you're at it. rust may be more of an issue than you suspect and rust is, unfortunately, a real car killer. agree with previous posters that a trolley jack and jack stands are a MUST if you need to raise the car for maintainence. the cost is minimal and the reduced risk is not quantifiable. i generally avoid using the front outboard jack positions except in an emergency (changing a tire on the road). i prefer the using the engine sub frame, which is stronger and safer.
