Omitting the cat is claimed to improve HP, but I think it's a dubious claim, if a 3 inch cat with 3 inch JT downpipe is used. The stock cat is definitely more restrictive. On my system, I dropped down to 2.5 inch for cat-back, but if you want to go for max HP, instead of deleting the cat, I'd suggest a big cat and 3 inch system all the way to the tip.
