issues replacing antenna mast - few questions Posted by henry helfman [Email] (#787) [Profile/Gallery] (more from henry helfman) on Wed, 29 Mar 2006 07:21:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
my car is a 1995 aero
Old mast stopped moving at half height. Bought a new mast from sobstory, pulled old one out. To no surprise the tail seems cut about 1/4 shorter.
It was late and I decided to give it a shot without applying much force. No good. Replacement mast diameter seems slighly higher and it refused to go completely down (found a post where somebody with this problem ground down brass ring at end to fix)
Another issue is that I couldn't slip the outside retaining nut over the cap of the new mast. Also too big. huh?
I have a few questions
1- do i have to pull apart the motor assy to retrieve a few inches of the old cord or can I get away with leaving it in there?
2- if so what's the easiest way to access the lower 2 motor screws?
3- does it sound like i have the wrong part?
