Speedometer Question (Long) Posted by Santo [Email] (#66) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Santo) on Thu, 13 Jul 2006 14:02:56 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The speedometer on my 1990 9000S recently started working intermittently but has now quit completely. All of the other speed dependant systems are
affected. I think I've read all the posts on speedo failures but did not see were anyone ever benchmarked a functioning transducer's output.
With the transaxle transducer's 2-wire cable disconnected at the back of the speedo-head unit and VOM meter attached, I'm seeing 355ohms through the transducer. Driving down the highway, with the car in 5th gear I'm seeing readings of 4.8 volts A/C at 2K rpm, 5.6vac at 2.5K, and 6.5vac at 3K.
Can anyone tell me if these output readings from the speed transducer are close to a functioning unit? Of course, I'm trying to determine if I have an insufficient output signal which will not drive the mechanical movement in the speedometer or is the problem with the speedo-head unit itself.
Thank you,
Rich
