I checked out the timing marks on the cams and they were one tooth off each shaft, so I advanced them both. Engine starts, but idle is very rough (damaged valves? compression test will tell). I also can't get above 2500rmp - I think the balance shafts are off and they cause too much vibration.
I wish there were a way to run the engine without putting everything back together. It would make fixing errors much easier.
