from my experience, timing is affected when doing the Pin 14 trick solely by removing Fuse 9. I have removed Fuse 9 (acts upon the energizing of Pin 14) just before starting the engine and just before selecting a forward gear. The car would stumble and sputter until I re-inserted Fuse 9. Obviously, the ECU follows a path in its software when it determines what tranny is in the car. The path chosen will be set factors for auto vs 5-spd. These factors include timing, idle speed, etc. I can vouch for a fact that there is more power felt when doing this trick. However, a CSE 5-spd (non-'98) does not make 225 hp no matter if the trick is done or not. The 225 hp is generated in the Aero and '98 CSE 5-spd (meaning, the TD04 turbo).
As to the reference to brake boost, this was something that was posted years ago when this topic was being visited (for the 100th time). Seems Fuse 9 plays into the braking system on newer models. I don't know for a fact that this is true, but it was posted by someone who had access to documentation on what Fuse 9 controls.
Be sure to read my previous post in the other thread correctly. I never said "Aero ECU" or "CSE ECU": I said "TD04 ECU" and "T25 ECU", as an auto Aero has a T25 turbo and as such will use a T25 ECU. There is no such thing as an "Auto ECU" and a "5-spd ECU". In the CSE with a T25, the ECU is the same regardless of tranny.
