It can be done but it is a lot of work. I did it on my 1998 when I had the tranny out of the car. This helped a lot since I already had the sub frame off. I also had to loosen up the rear engine mount and move it back. This was done because when the oil pan comes doen it can't come straight down because of the oil lines inside the pan. It needs to move toward the back as it is droped. (hence it hits the output shaft to the drivers wheel. By moving the rear engine mount I was able to make more room.
I won't suggest doing it unless you already have the car half apart.
