First, what year and model car do you have?
For example, in '92, the analog clock came in the low-end cars, but you could get the digital clock with trip computer in the Turbo, and possibly the S.
In the newer cars (like a '97), they all came with the trip computer.
So with an older car, you could can just plug in a digital clock unit from a similar year car. It may not support the trip function - in the older cars, the necessary speed signal came to the clock on a second connector, which may or may not be in the wiring. Quite often the wiring harnesses were the same, and the extra connector may just be sitting unsued behind the dash.
The newer car digital clock has only one connector, so it'll plug into an older car, but the pins won't be quite right. Wires can be moved around.
So the question is - what year car do you have? What year clock do have? Pop out the existing clock, and see if there are two connectors on the cable (one unused).
