Having just replaced all my vacuum hoses, PCV valve AND hooked up my stock boost gauge again, I now realise that my last 3 9000 turbos had vacuum leaks which I did not know about before and I would have sworn blind all the hoses etc were fine.

How?

When I decelerate in my now vacuum-leakless car, the boost gauge goes way over into the white zone (reads about 30% of the white zone if that makes sense?).

Non of my other cars ever showed such a great vacuum (probably because this is the first car I've ever replaced ALL the vacuum hoses).

This might also explain why all my previous cars had such a rough idle...

If your boost gauge does not go way over into the white zone, ie vacuum, when you declerate, then you have a leak somewhere. Replace your hoses and pcv valve. It took me about an hour and equivalent of $40 in parts.
