Good evening,

I have a question about DI Cassettes, which I first posed to David Ingram (a great guy who taught me how to install a new head gasket on our 93 CDE among the many help he has extended) who recommended I post the subject here.

In a capsule, do DI Cassettes burn out like a light bulb, in other words do they maintain the same brightness throughout until the filament breaks and then quits or do they degrade slowly up to a certain point then expires, (which light bulbs don't do or do they. At least I haven’t noticed).

I recently installed a new cassette on our 92 Turbo and immediately thereafter noticed an increase in the mileage despite the fact I did not replace the plugs. It has approximately 7000K.

On our 93 CDE meanwhile I replaced the plugs, resistor type, NGK (not the cassette) but didn't see any noticeable difference on the mileage, which made me wonder if cassette's degrades in electrical output over time that might explain the gain on our 92 Turbo.
