Other than to make you feel better about your 10-15 year old car, why do you believe that the engine has been removed? Can you prove it? After reading this claim I re-watched the clip in question, there is a brief frontal shot where it certainly appears that the engine is in place, but crushed and pushed inwards towards the passenger compartment. If you claim the test is a fraud, back it up. 5th Gear isn't noted for faking things. If it were Top Gear, then yes, it would probably be fake. Of course, if it were Top Gear they probably would have proceeded to blow them both up.
I'm very confused at people's attitudes related to older cars. How could you possibly believe that 10-15 years of engineering advancements have not made cars safer? When my Aero was built in 1993, I don't think the concept of crumple zones even existed. Safe by 1993 standards, but a LOT has changed in 15 years. Loving your car is great, but be realistic.
