Don't waste your money on the synthetic oils. Great in cold climate in the trans. and engine upon start-up, but I never drive until engine is at operational temp. I never switched!, but I always change at 3k and have never seen excessive wear in any of my cars. My last two cars were Volvo's and had over 250.000k when I sold them. At 118.000k the compression was 155 and when I sold them it was 152k. Synthetic is nice to use , but if your changing at high mileage intervals, I would think the the normal particle accumulation would be higher than if you changed at 3k. The synthetic oils won't break down as much as regular oils from high heat if your not changing at 3k, but then, higher intervals your going to have more particles. The filter doesn't get everything! Do the math? It's also good to change the brake fluid and anti-freeze coolant every 2-3 years. Use a bottle 1/2 bottle of "Barleaks" in the coolant for the anti-rust, lubricating, sealing properties. I never had to change a radiator or heater core while using the product. And no! It doesn't clog the system unless it was dirty to begin with. 4 running Saab's, all with over 160.000k - 180.000k on then. If I was to use synthetic oil's, my yearly maintenance bill would be tripled the cost and I drive my cars with care in mind. Saab also uses high nickle content in the metal when manufacturing the engines. Less prone to wear.
