I have read ths posts and have accomplished the following, but I do not have power going to the compressor clutch or to what looks like a switch on the top of the conpressor.
- I added 3 cans of freon by jumpering the clutch, it worked.
- LOW side is at 30 ambient 75F w/o engine cooling fan 'off'
- LOW side drops to 20-25 when the engine cooling fan is 'on'
- engine cooling fan comes on and stays on longer as I added more Freon
- I checked the 30amp AC/ACC FAN fuse (OK - when I remove it, the the interior fan turns off)
- I checked power to the yellow AC Safety relay behind the fuses in the glovebox (wow those bottom 2 screws are a real PITA). I swapped this relay with the horn realy and it worked. I check the voltage and I have 13.64 at two (2) of the relay slots. Which apepard to be correct meaning I have power to the relay from the battery for the clutch and power to the relay activating the compressor clutch.
I have not checked the switch at the dryer (??) which is down low under the radiator overflow tank behind the many many hoses. Does the power to the clutch go through this switch before the compressor clutch?
I did not check the high side (I don't have the red gauge) but from what I read I wanted to engine cooling fan to come-on. That would indicate I good.
What does ths switch on the top of the compressor serve?
What am I missing? Is there a connector or fuse I am missing? Is there a wire which is prone to breaking? My "book" does not show anything regarding an a/c schematic. The schematic which are referenced on-line are gone.
Thanks for the assistance!
Erik
