Nice write-up, Ray. Additional note. Posted by Kevin M [Email] (#1193) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Kevin M) on Tue, 23 Sep 2008 06:16:06 In Reply to: "Door open" switch, all figured out. When my rear passenger window regulator croaked, The motor drive was really corroded up. Being a cheap bugger, I pulled the motor apart, cleaned and relubed the bushes. The fix lasted about a year.
The OEM drive motor has a moisture weep hole in the bottom race and this was oriented up rather than down, so moisture would collect in the bottom bush- resulting in corrosion. I have gone thru the other regulators and the rest were oriented the correct way.
So, now if I have a door panel off, I lube the regulator cables, take a small pick and clean the weep-hole, and shoot a small amount of dry silicon in the lower motor bush as well as on the guide rails. All of this has the regulators working very smoothly.
Again, nice write-up on the latch maintenance. These tid-bits, keep the 9000 community on the road and out of GM's pockets!
All the best,
K
